To start the summer, we dove into what connects the content and form of our commitments. We launched a seminar for adults and a workshop for children.

How can we create active editorial content and visual and graphic contributions? What visual and organisational shapes and strategies let us combine graphic design, illustration, print and activism?
All of these questions, and some others, will be addressed during a panel with Rebecca Rosen and the Panthère Première collective, moderated by Loraine Furter. Let us introduce these beautiful people :
Rebecca Rosen
Comic artist, illustrator, graphic designer and screen printer, Rebecca Rosen was born in Montreal and now lives in Brussels.
Her feminist activism seeps into all of her work, whether through activist posters, fanzines or comic books (“Morveuses”, published in 2019). Her illustrations were published on the front page of the coop magazine Médor in 2019, which included a distressing investigation on sexism in Belgian journalism.
As a Curieuse Résidence this year, she worked on a fiction based on the life of Mayken Verhulst (1518-1599), a 16th-Century painter and printmaker, with a backdrop of the status and re/cognition of these women artists.
Panthère Première
The French independent social critic review, Panthère Première, ran by a group of only women, does editorial and technical work in which women from different professional and activist horizons come together from the four corners of France. The texts and images that fill its pages highlight existing linkages between what is usually private (family, childhood, home, body, illness, and sexuality, amongst other things), and the phenomena around which systems are built (State, industry, work, colonialism, and gender relations, amongst others).
Loraine Furter
Having made Belgium her home since 2007, Lorraine Furter works in different networks of people, groups and research movements around graphic design, hybrid publication practices (paper & digital), the development of new open source tools and new ways of collaborative and activist organisation. Within the Just for the record collective, she looks at representations in cyberspace with an intersectional and inclusive feminist perspective.
