In 2000, after the Cirque Divers, the Voix de Femmes Festival moved to Brussels, the European city of culture, at the Halles de Schaerbeek, while keeping its headquarters in Liege in a co-production between the ASBLs Voix de Femme and D’une certaine gaieté le Cirque Divers, meanwhile forming new partnerships in Antwerp and Huy.
The 5th Voix de Femmes Festival (2000) built on the foundations of prior editions by continuing to invite artists from ACP countries, the educational workshops and the “Cultures en résistance” seminars. Furthermore, it took a stronger political stance by inviting women close to kidnapped or disappeared persons from different parts of the world. These women created the “Global Solidarity Network of Mothers, Wives, Sisters, Daughters, Friends and Relatives of Kidnapped and Disappeared Persons”.
